Senior Business Controller
Lead the financial backbone of a fast-scaling deep-tech company — own project controlling, forecasting, and investor reporting to fuel Novatron's fusion journey.
At Novatron Fusion Group, we are pioneering the future of clean, sustainable energy. Fusion energy has the potential to revolutionize the global energy system, and we are at the forefront of making it commercially viable. As we scale our technology and operations, financial rigor and business control are becoming increasingly critical to our continued growth and success.
We are looking for a driven and hands-on Senior Business Controller to build and lead this function. This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in auditing, consulting, or financial controlling who is ready to roll up their sleeves and make a real impact in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.
Responsibilities
Your work will directly contribute to Novatron Fusion Group's long-term success. Your initial responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
Project Controlling – Own the financial controlling of our major development projects, ensuring cost tracking and estimation, forecast adherence, and financial transparency throughout project lifecycles. Staying ahead of the curve is crucial.
Decision Support – Prepare high-quality decision materials and financial analysis to support the organization in making informed, data-driven business decisions.
Company Forecasting – Drive the company's financial forecasting processes, building robust models that give leadership and investors a clear view of future scenarios.
Cash Flow Management – Develop and maintain cash flow estimations related to large-scale development projects and engage with banking partners on cash management solutions and financing.
Stakeholder Reporting – Develop & implement an improved reporting framework, ensuring timely, accurate, and compelling financial reporting to our investor base.
Systems & Process Development – Evaluate and potentially implement new financial systems and tools to support a scalable controlling function.
Cross-Functional Collaboration – Act as a key financial partner across the entire organization — from R&D and Operations to management and external stakeholders — bringing structure and clarity wherever needed.
Building the capability – Over time, take ownership of building out the business control capability, developing processes, and establishing best practices fit for a fast-scaling deep-tech company.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We believe you have the following qualifications:
Proven experience with project controlling and managing the financial aspects of complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
Strong skills in financial modeling, forecasting, and cash flow analysis — you are comfortable building models from scratch and know what good looks like.
Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in business controlling, financial analysis, auditing, or management consulting.
Experience with investor reporting and an understanding of what "good looks like".
Familiarity with financial systems and a track record of driving process improvements or system implementations.
A results-oriented mindset — you get things done, take ownership, and are not afraid to get into the details when needed.
A highly communicative and collaborative personality — you thrive working cross-functionally and can translate complex financial topics for non-finance stakeholders.
A background from an auditing firm or top-tier consulting firm (or other relevant high-paced environment) is considered a strong merit.
Comfortable navigating in a dynamic, high-growth environment with evolving priorities and a degree of ambiguity.
Interest in deep-tech, energy, or frontier industries — curiosity and a desire to understand the business you support are essential.
Excellent English oral and writing skills for working with our international team.
Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written.
