Your role as an Electronics R&D Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Electronics R&D Assistant to support our Electronics development. This role is well suited for a current or recent Master’s student looking to gain hands-on experience in electronic development projects, particularly within high-power, high-frequency, and low-noise applications.

This is an opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in practice while developing valuable industry experience. You will work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to ongoing R&D activities.

This is a part-time, hourly position with the potential to develop into a Master’s thesis project.

Responsibilities

• Support Novatron’s electronics R&D projects related to experiment control, plasma heating, plasma diagnostics, and instrumentation

• Assemble and solder electronic prototypes

• Evaluate components and concepts

• Select components and create schematic symbols and footprints in Altium

• Lead smaller R&D initiatives end-to-end — from concept and design through prototyping, testing, debugging, and documentation

• Ensure compliance with established protocols, safety standards, and best engineering practices

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
We believe you bring a combination of the following qualifications and competencies:

Core qualifications

• Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Master’s program in Engineering Physics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field

• Strong attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills

• Ability to follow technical procedures with accuracy and consistency

• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within a team

• Basic familiarity with electronics design tools and workflows

• Hands-on experience with soldering and general electronics lab work

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with SMD PCB design and prototyping

• Practical experience in PCB assembly, soldering, and testing

• Familiarity with Altium Designer
